I've head it before, myself, from other marketers trying to get me to join their deal. They figure if they can't get me to join their biz, they can pitch me on something that they say will "compliment" whatever it is that I am already doing.
Ok, good enough. So whenever I would check-out what they were trying to show to me, I would usually determine that it wasn't worth anything to me. I would be a deal like "well, you have this now, to help you with your biz, but now you need to share this with everybody that you know".
In other words, my biz would all of a sudden become secondary, in terms of what I'm supposer to promote to others. That doesn't compliment what I'm already doing. In fact, it totally takes me away from what I was doing. Like a 180 degree turn into the other direction, it feels like.
I "stumbled" onto something, though, that if somebody HAD shown to me... I'd have been blown-away, once I totally understood all that it did for a marketer.
